Daniel Garnier French , b. 1923

Daniel Garnier-Geoffroy is a French painter and sculptor, born in Moret-sur-Loing in 1923. He developed a lifelong connection with the landscapes and waterways of the Seine and Loing, particularly around Moret-sur-Loing and Saint-Mammès, where he settled in the later part of his life.

Garnier-Geoffroy worked in a variety of media and explored both painting and sculpture. His paintings include landscapes, riverside scenes, village views and scenes of everyday life, often inspired by the towns and waterways of the Île-de-France region. His work captures the changing character of the landscape through different seasons and conditions of light.

He was also a sculptor, producing numerous portrait busts, including commissions depicting local and public figures. He was introduced to sculpture by the French sculptor François Cogné and maintained an active artistic practice alongside his professional life.

Garnier-Geoffroy exhibited widely, from Paris to Chicago, as well as participating in regional salons and exhibitions. His paintings continue to appear on the French art market, with works including views of Saint-Mammès, the Loing and the surrounding countryside.
