46.5 x 39 cm
Jean Paul Hugues (1891–1950) was a French painter known for refined interior scenes depicting elegant rooms, collectors’ cabinets, and artists’ studios. His paintings often focus on the quiet harmony between furniture, artworks, and decorative objects, rendered with careful attention to light and atmosphere.
He studied in Paris under Fernand Cormon and Henri Royer and later exhibited regularly at leading Paris salons, including the Salon des Artistes Français, where he received a silver medal in 1920 and became a member in 1923. Today his work is appreciated for its evocative portrayal of cultivated early twentieth-century interiors.
