Nils Carlstedt Swedish, 1890-1964
63 x 72 cm
Nils Carlstedt (1890–1964) was a Swedish painter known for his atmospheric landscapes and coastal scenes. Born in Stockholm, he studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts and later travelled widely in Europe, experiences that influenced his approach to colour and composition.
Carlstedt is particularly associated with the Swedish west coast, where he painted harbours, fishing boats, and quiet shoreline views. His work often captures the changing light and mood of the Nordic landscape, combining a naturalistic observation of place with a decorative sense of colour.
During his lifetime Carlstedt exhibited regularly in Sweden and his paintings are represented in both private and public collections. Today his work is appreciated for its calm, balanced compositions and its evocative portrayal of Scandinavian coastal life.
