David McLeod Martin (1922–2018) was a Scottish painter and printmaker known for his atmospheric landscapes, coastal scenes, still lifes, and depictions of Scottish towns and harbours. Born in Dumbarton, he studied at the Glasgow School of Art and later taught art in Scotland while continuing to exhibit widely throughout his career. Working primarily in oils and watercolour, Martin developed a distinctive expressive style characterised by strong colour, textured brushwork, and an interest in light and atmosphere. His work was regularly exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, and remains popular in Scottish private collections and at auction today.
