Maurice Louvrier was a French painter associated with the École de Rouen, a circle of artists inspired by the legacy of Impressionism in Normandy. Working primarily in and around Rouen, he became known for his atmospheric landscapes and views of the Seine and the historic city. His paintings are distinguished by a refined sensitivity to light and colour, and a confident, painterly handling of paint that reflects the continuing influence of the Impressionist tradition in early twentieth-century French art.
