46 x 55 cm
René Aubert (1894–1977) was a French painter known for his landscapes, coastal scenes and views of towns and villages across France. Working in a naturalistic style, his paintings often capture the changing light and atmosphere of the French countryside and coastline.
Aubert exhibited during the mid-twentieth century and developed a reputation for lively, well-observed compositions, frequently depicting harbours, fishing boats and rural settings. His work reflects the enduring influence of the French landscape tradition, with an emphasis on colour, movement and a strong decorative appeal.
Today his paintings remain popular with collectors for their accessible style and evocative depictions of regional French life.
