Stig Wernheden Swedish, 1921-1997
Stig Wernheden (1921–1997) was a Swedish painter known for his expressive landscapes and coastal scenes. Working primarily in oil, he developed a confident, painterly style characterised by bold brushwork and a strong sense of colour.
Wernheden frequently depicted the Scandinavian countryside and shoreline, capturing the changing light and atmosphere of the Nordic landscape. His compositions balance structure with a loose, energetic handling of paint, giving his work a lively and decorative character.
His paintings were exhibited in Sweden and internationally and are today held in a number of private collections.
