Jacques Bouyssou was a French painter known for his atmospheric landscapes, harbour scenes and lively market subjects. Born in Honfleur, a town long associated with the Impressionist tradition, Bouyssou developed a style that combined fresh, spontaneous brushwork with a strong sense of colour and light.

Working primarily in oil and watercolour, he painted extensively along the Normandy coast as well as in southern France and the Mediterranean. His compositions often capture bustling quaysides, fishing boats, village streets and flower markets, rendered with an expressive, painterly touch.

Bouyssou exhibited widely in France and internationally, and his work remains sought after for its decorative appeal and evocative depictions of French coastal life.
