Frederick Gore RA (1913–2009) was a British painter celebrated for his vibrant landscapes and cityscapes, distinguished by their bold colour and energetic brushwork. Born in Liverpool, he studied at the Liverpool School of Art before continuing his training in Paris, where he absorbed the influence of modern French painting and developed the expressive approach to colour that would characterise his work throughout his career.

Alongside his work as a painter, Gore was a highly respected teacher and influential figure in British art education. He served as Head of Painting at the Byam Shaw School of Art before becoming Professor of Painting at the Royal Academy Schools, where he taught and mentored a generation of younger artists.

Gore was elected a Royal Academician in 1983, recognising his significant contribution to post-war British painting. His works, often inspired by landscapes in Britain, Ireland, and France, are admired for their vitality, confident handling of paint, and richly decorative sense of colour.
