Albert Abbe was a Swedish painter born in Helsingborg on 10 June 1889 and died in Glumslöv, Skåne, on 7 February 1966. Associated with the modernist movement in southern Sweden, he was part of the circle of progressive Scandinavian artists working in the early 20th century and is linked with the group De Tolv (“The Twelve”), a notable collective of modernist painters from Skåne. His work reflects the influence of European modernism, including the teachings of French artist André Lhote, while maintaining a distinctly Scandinavian sensitivity in colour and composition.
